Alternatywy 4 ((:ˌaltɛrnaˈtɨvɨ ˈʧ̑tɛrɨ); "4 Alternative (Disjunction) Street") was a Polish comedy TV series that was finished in 1983 and, due to censorship, first aired in 1986. Many famous Polish actors appeared in the series. The filming location used in ''Alternatywy 4'' was a residential complex which is still in existence at 3 Marii Grzegorzewskiej Street in Warsaw, Poland. The series was a satire to the communist rule in Poland, spoken in a way that it passed through communist censorship office. Due to the censorship, whole and even partial scenes had to be cut. After 30 years the show has undergone a digital reconstruction and filling with the deleted scene's parts that were found in the archives of TVP The characteristic name is a result of a dispute among developers on how to name a new street in episode 1. Annoyed by the lack on consensus, one of them utters, "There must be some ''alternative''".
